Motherboard & Graphics Card Repair

Component-level repair of motherboards, graphics cards, computers, laptops, and other computer hardware

Computer, Laptop, Motherboard, and Hardware Repair

Retrorepair provides component-level motherboard and graphics card repair in Portugal, including electronic diagnostics for power faults, boot failures, damaged circuits and defective components.

We also diagnose and repair desktop computers, laptops, power supplies and other computer hardware, covering both retro and modern equipment.

On this page, we showcase examples of repairs and interventions carried out by Retrorepair on computer equipment from various brands, platforms, and generations.

Component-Level Computer Hardware Repair

Our work focuses on electronic faults that require diagnosis at board level rather than simple part swapping. This includes failures in power rails, voltage regulation, boot and startup circuits, damaged connectors, short circuits, firmware-related faults and defective electronic components.

Equipment We Diagnose

  • Desktop and gaming motherboards
  • Graphics cards and related power circuitry
  • Laptops and notebook hardware
  • Computer power supplies and electronic modules
  • Retro computers and legacy computer hardware
  • Selected server and industrial PC hardware

Typical Faults

  • No power or incomplete startup sequence
  • Boot loops, unstable startup or failure to POST
  • Missing or incorrect power rails
  • Short circuits and damaged power components
  • BIOS, firmware and Intel Management Engine related faults
  • Damaged slots, sockets and board-level connectors

Not every fault can be assessed remotely. The exact cause, repairability and cost are determined only after physical inspection and electronic diagnosis of the equipment.

ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero – Intel Management Engine power supply repair

ASUS ROG Maximus VII Hero motherboard received with intermittent start-up problems and failure to complete the boot sequence. Electronic diagnostics identified a fault within the Intel Management Engine power supply circuit, preventing the required 1.05V ME rail from being generated correctly.

Problem

Motherboard arrived with boot problems. Diagnostic measurements confirmed the Intel Management Engine 1.05V power rail was missing due to a failure in the power regulation circuitry.

Solution

Faulty electronic components were identified and replaced, restoring the Intel Management Engine power supply. The motherboard successfully passed extensive testing, including memory stability, PCI Express, onboard video, I/O ports and repeated boot verification.

Sega SC-3000H Computer — Video Circuit, Memory and Processor Repair

Extremely rare vintage Sega SC-3000H computer, showing no signs of video or sound. Electronic diagnostics identified faults in the video circuit's DC-DC power supply, as well as issues with the system memory and processor, preventing the computer from booting up and displaying an image.

Problem

The computer arrived with startup issues. Diagnostic measurements confirmed the absence of the 12V power rail for the video generation circuit, due to a failure in the DC-DC converter. Problems with the memory and processor were also detected.

Solution

Defective electronic components were identified and replaced, restoring power to the video, memory, and processor circuits. The computer underwent tests for joysticks, image, sound, and other functions.

Repair of Computers, Laptops, Motherboards and Computer Hardware

Retrorepair provides professional diagnostic and repair services for both retro and modern computer equipment, covering a wide range of hardware and electronic components. We repair desktop computers, laptops, notebooks, computer motherboards, graphics cards, power supplies, servers, industrial PC hardware and other electronic computer equipment.

Every repair begins with a detailed electronic diagnosis to identify the root cause of the fault. Depending on the equipment and the failure detected, repairs may include component-level motherboard repair, graphics card repair, power supply repair, replacement of damaged electronic components, recovery from boot failures, short-circuit diagnosis, BIOS-related faults, Intel Management Engine power circuit repairs and other hardware issues affecting system stability.

We work with equipment from multiple manufacturers, generations and platforms, ranging from vintage computer hardware to modern high-performance gaming systems. Each repair is evaluated individually according to the condition of the equipment, the type of fault and the technical feasibility of the repair, always aiming to preserve the original hardware whenever possible.

The repairs presented on this page represent only a small selection of the work carried out by Retrorepair and demonstrate our experience in diagnosing and repairing complex electronic faults on computer hardware and motherboards.

How the Repair Process Works

Each job is handled individually because identical symptoms can have very different electronic causes.

Computer Hardware Repair Service in Portugal

Retrorepair provides diagnosis and repair services for customers throughout Portugal. Equipment can be sent for assessment when personal delivery is not practical. Contact us before shipping so the equipment, fault description and return details can be correctly identified.
