Saved data stored in old cartridges can disappear when the battery fails or the memory degrades. At RetroRepair, the priority is to preserve any existing data before making changes to the cartridge.
Read and copy the save before replacing the battery, whenever the cartridge still allows access to the stored data.
Analysis of missing, corrupted or unrecognised saves. Recovery depends on the actual condition of the memory and cannot be guaranteed.
Battery replacement followed by restoration of the previously preserved save, whenever technically possible.
Verification of the recovered file and, where applicable, final testing on compatible hardware.
Compatible with a wide range of retro and classic systems, including, among others, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, NES, SNES, Nintendo 64, Mega Drive/Genesis, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, PlayStation and PlayStation 2. Support depends on the type of memory used by the system or game and on whether the save data can technically be read, backed up, recovered or restored.
Tell us the game, system and symptoms. The cartridge or storage medium must be received and inspected on the bench before any quotation is provided.
RetroRepair was born from a long-standing passion: breathing new life into things that had stopped working. It all began with a simple audio device—and a deep curiosity about how to get it running again. What started as a challenge turned into a fascination, and that fascination evolved into a true mission: to understand, repair, and preserve the soul of electronic equipment.
Over the years, this passion has evolved into serious, dedicated work. Based in Portalegre, Portugal, we have created a space where every piece of equipment is treated with care, attention, and precision—as if it were our own. From vintage audio gear to computers and game consoles, and from household appliances to industrial equipment, we approach every repair with the same rigor and dedication.
We value quality, authenticity, and trust. To us, repair is not just about fixing things—it is about preserving memories, emotions, and stories.
We serve customers in Portugal and around the world, with shipping and service options available globally. No matter where you are, you can count on RetroRepair to breathe new life into your equipment.

Everything you need to know before contacting us
Yes, we accept equipment sent from anywhere in Portugal or the world. After initial contact, we provide packing instructions to ensure the equipment arrives safely. Once repaired, we return the equipment using the same method.
The timeframe depends on the complexity of the fault and the availability of components. On average, repairs are completed within 5 to 15 business days. Equipment with more complex issues or requiring special parts may take slightly longer—we always inform the customer of the expected timeframe.
Yes, all repairs come with a 60-day warranty. If the same issue recurs during that period, we will repair it at no additional cost. This warranty applies to the specific fault that was repaired and does not cover damage caused by misuse or new issues.
You can request a quote via the form on our website, by email at [email protected], or by phone. Once we receive the equipment, we provide a no-obligation quote before starting any work.
Yes, we work with all brands of electronic equipment—ranging from vintage audio (Marantz, Pioneer, Technics, Akai, Sony, among others) to computers, home appliances, industrial equipment, and game consoles. If you have questions about a specific piece of equipment, please do not hesitate to contact us.
The diagnostic is free of charge, provided the quote is accepted and the repair proceeds. If you do not accept the quoted price, a bench fee will apply and must be paid before the equipment is returned. Shipping costs are not included in this fee and will be added to the final total.
If, following the diagnostic, we determine that the equipment cannot be viably repaired (or that the cost is not justified), we immediately inform the customer and return the equipment, charging the bench fee corresponding to the work performed and any applicable shipping costs. Transparency and honesty are core values for us.
Tested, repaired, and ready to use — with a Retrorepair warranty.
